A dry start was greatly appreciated and put a smile on the dial.
We left Bristol behind us and headed for the Principality of Wales. We crossed the Severn Bridge and were delighted that we were not charged the entry fee, bargain! Roger who is a tad scared of heights did not find the experience pleasurable at all.
Having spent all of 20 minutes in Wales, we'd had enough and came back to England - our tired legs needed to work as we started to climb.
We headed towards the Forest of Dean and Herefordshire and we were rewarded with spectacular scenery.
We followed the River Wye as we cycled through the Wye Valley on very secluded roads. There was utter silence - only because if your mouth was open you would swallow a large number of flies. Good protein. We stopped for coffee in Ross-on-Wye where Roger confessed that his navigational skills were getting better. We believe that as we are mainly heading North, he has clocked at least one of the points on the compass.
Spurred on by the dry weather and beautiful surroundings, the team pounded to lunch where a fan club had assembled with an assortment of delicious homemade wholesome energy food.
Bobbo got some much needed wardrobe adjustment so that he would look good for his arrival in Shrewsbury. After 170km of riding the team were glad to put the bikes away and head for the showers and dinner. The First Aid box was needed as one of the riders appears to have sprung a leak! Rapid overnight improvement is required as we head to Lancaster tomorrow.
Looks like a golf d day and I am chuffed that a Team Abana jacket was well utilised!
